Accept Applications for Wicca School Board
Wow! We have grown a lot in the last year. And now we need your help to become better at what we do. I am expanding our administration to include a school board. I am not looking for any certain amount of experience in Wicca. I would like to see 5 to 10 hours per week of commitment. At this time, I cannot provide any monetary compensation for time spent. That is a goal for the future.
The Firefly Academy of Wicca and Witchcraft is an eclectic online school that opened in late 2006. We offer classes in Wicca, Tarot, Astrology, Qabala, Ritual, Elements, Spells, Scrying, Coven Craft, Chakras/Auras, Tools, Stones/Crystals, and more. The main classes are Wicca 1, 2, 3 and the Independent Study in Wicca. Students enter this series to learn the basic principles and beliefs of Wicca, how to practice Wicca, how to use magick and build their skills, and other topics. We do not charge for our classes, however basic revenue is covered through 2 books that Wicca students are required to purchase.
Our goal is to teach Wicca online using tools (such as audio, video, etc.) to make it as effective as possible. Many of our classes have written lessons, as well as audio options. We are taking steps to incorporate video lessons into our classes. Also, we utilize an online interactive classroom software that allows us to better create a school atmosphere. This also helps us better interact with our students.
The school board will meet weekly in the Academy's chat room. This meeting will be mandatory and scheduled to best meet the board's needs. A meeting cannot continue without 3/5 of the members present. Members who do not attend will need to read the minutes in the past chat sessions. All chat sessions are logged and available for all members to read.
If you feel that you have something to offer The Firefly Academy and its students, then please do apply for one of the following positions. You must be willing and able to commit to at least 5 hours of work per week, and be able to keep that commitment. We are looking to move the school forward, and not take a step back.
I will make my final decisions by December 30th.
TO APPLY: go to http://www.fireflyacademy.org, click on CLASSROOM, and then you will find the "TFA Admin Board Application" on the left side of the screen. If you have any questions, email ladyiris@fireflyacademy.org
Here is a list of the open positions and their responsibilities:
Assistant Dean - Beyond assisting the Dean, the AD will be responsible for working with students as they prepare for self-dedication/initiation and writing/maintaining/posting official Firefly rituals for esbats/sabbats. Will preside over meetings in the absence of the Dean.
Student Involvement Coordinator - Responsible for maintaining and moderating the main discussion forums, chat room, and school activities. Facilitates discussions in the forums, as well as schedules and moderates chats. Ideally, this person would recruit 2 people to moderate the chat room. A strong ability to self-motivate and work on your own is necessary. Some assignments would be handed down by the Dean and Assisant Dean, but I would like this person to come up with and implement their own ideas.
International Coordinator - Responsible for maintaining academic consistency so that students get a similar experience, no matter what part of the world they live in. This person would be responsible for addressing concerns of international students. This includes maintaining consistencies between Northern and Southern Hemisphere activities (i.e. making sure that we celebrate Yule, as well as Midsummer in December). The International Coordinator would also be responsible for conveying time zone differences. As this role develops, this person would also take on facilitating communication and activities between students that live in close proximity to each other. For example, we have several students in the UK. Do any of these students live in close proximity, and would they be interested in meeting up?
Student Representative - This student is responsible for sitting in on board meetings (or reading board meeting transcripts) and representing the student body's concerns.

The Firefly Academy of Wicca and Witchcraft
Let me tell you all about a magickal journey. It is a project that consumes nearly every moment of each day. Even when I seem to be working on something completely unrelated, it is a program that runs in the background of my mind. The Firefly Academy is an online school that I have founded. It offers courses in Wicca, tarot, astrology, runes, scrying, animal magick, an overview of esoteric topics, and courses that are meant to further your personal practice, such as ritual, tools, and others.
I also host a podcast that updates with new episodes once a week. The Firefly Chronicles. I think that this week's episode will be about aromatherapy, as well as WBGU-FM's call-in show on the paranormal and other topics, Dead Air. Our podcast is available on iTunes, as well as on our hosting site, switchpod.com
